The true spirit of Bali is alive and well in Sanur. One of Bali's biggest traditional villages, Sanur is also one of the most established tourist areas and a favourite for all holidaymakers.

The location offers an extensive range of hotels, restaurants and modern entertainment venues that successfully complement the traditional village architecture, tradition and activities such as drama and dance.

Just right

A much quieter locale than Kuta/Legian/Seminiak, Sanur also offers village shopping, art galleries, laid-back bars and restaurants. Sanur also still retains it village-feel, and with many ex-pat locals and many of Bali's more affluent residents calling this beach community home, the resort town feels more traditional than Nusa Dua with it's 'purpose-built feel'.

The result is considered by many to be the 'Just Right' place to stay in Bali. Sanur is a great place to enjoy all the specialities of a tropical island while gaining a real appreciation of Balinese culture and social life.

Family Fun

Sanur’s beach may not be the most spectacular in Bali, but it is great for small kids with calm shallows, perfect for pint-sized paddling! Sanur also has a range of other family-friendly activities to keep the young ones entertained. For kids under 10 years, Peek a boo Sanur has over 1000m2 of indoor and outdoor play areas, including dedicated baby and toddler play stations, as well as a cafe for parents to enjoy a drink and snacks.

Head to Serangan to visit the Turtle Conservation and Education Centre. Here the kids can learn about turtle conservation, and for a small donation, can even ‘adopt’ a turtle to release into the wild themselves.

Ride the Wind

Although Bali more well known for other aquatic activities, such as surfing, SCUBA or snorkeling, Sanur's steady wind and reef-protected expanse of shallow, flat water make Sanur the ideal location for Kite-Surfing. You'll find kite-surfing shops and schools all along the stretch of sand. Windsurfing is also popular.

Maing the most of the steady windy, each July Sanur plays host to the annual Bali Kite Festival. As part of this religious festival, local teams fly giant, traditional kites to request abundant crops and harvests from the Hindu gods.
