Great Ocean Road

Breathtaking Scenery, Picturesque Villages

The Great Ocean Road, truly one of the world's most spectacular coastal drives, is home to some of Australia's most iconic places. The Twelve Apostles - those dramatic, weather-sculpted stone towers set in the relentless rolling waters of the Southern Ocean - are for many the main drawcard of this region.

Dotted here along Victoria's rugged south-western coast are many gorgeous seaside resort towns blessed with multitudes of gourmet riches and fabulous places to stay. As you'd expect, fresh caught seafood graces many a menu in these parts, the perfect accompaniment to local artisan cheeses and cool-climate regional wines. It's little wonder this is a place renowned globally as a holiday destination without peer foodies and bon vivants.

The region, however, offers so much more than full tummies and teased tastebuds. Simply tasting your way along the Great Ocean Road is barely scratching the surface; start your journey with the lively ambience of bayside Geelong, the state's second-largest city, then head south to Torquay, a popular surfing spot. Along the coast, seaside towns, such as Lorne, Apollo Bay, Warrnambool and Port Fairy, offer stunning beaches and water sports, as well as some of Australia's best rainforest scenery in the nearby Otway Ranges.
