Mooloolaba to Marcoola

The Heart of the Sunshine Coast

Maroochydore lays claim to a variety of swimming and surfing beaches, calm, clean water and green stretches of waterside parklands that have made the town a popular holiday destination – especially for families. The town is also a commercial hub for the Sunshine Coast, giving it an air of bustling vibrancy.

Alexandra Headland (or ‘Alex’ as it’s known locally) is a quiet coastal spot south of Maroochydore and north of Mooloolaba. Despite its proximity to the Sunshine Coast’s major attractions, the town has retained its relaxed, laid-back charm. Here you will find spectacular views to Mount Coolum and some of Queensland’s best surf breaks.

Sprawled across the Mooloolah River, Mooloolaba is famous for its excellent fishing, all-weather harbour and international-standard marinas. Sailing is a popular pastime here, and the town is the finish point for two major bluewater sailing competitions. You can also enjoy a wide variety of restaurants, excellent surf, a healthy nightlife and access to attractions, such as UnderWater World. All three locations have a range of quality accommodation, an abundance of dining options, and excellent beachside barbecue and playground facilities. Better yet, when you stay at one you can easily explore all three – stroll down the ocean-view walking path from the Mooloolaba Esplanade and you’ll cross Alexandra Headland and enter Maroochydore CBD within about 30 minutes.
