Krabi

Overflowing with Natural Attractions

Less crowded than Phuket, more laid-back than Koh Samui and just over an hour's flight from Bangkok, Krabi Province is one of the most attractive destinations in southern Thailand and provides excellent opportunities for rock climbing, diving, snorkelling and sailing the Andaman Sea.

Krabi is teeming with natural attractions, offering stunning scenery, some of Thailand's best mainland beaches, a coastline with more than 200 islands and a verdant jungle-covered interior revealing towering limestone cliffs, waterfalls, caverns, mystical shrines and exotic wildlife. And with a range of accommodation options ranging from budget through to deluxe, this idyllic province of incredible beauty really is the ultimate destination.

Rock climbers come from all over the world to enjoy the challenges presented to them by Krabi's stunning limestone cliffs and rock formations. Everyone will enjoy the lakes, caves and spectacular natural scenery of the national park located approximately 40 kilometres outside of town.

Locally known as the location of the Graveyard of Shells (fossil beds near the sea), Krabi is also the location of two world-class beaches, Ao Nang and Hat Rai Le, both offering numerous diving trips, as well as restaurants and shops nearby. From Ao Nang, enjoy the spectacular seascape, limestone cliffs and caves from a kayak, exploring hidden offshore areas at a leisurely pace.

Insiders' Tips

  • Horse Riding on the Beach: Whether you are an experienced horse rider or a first timer, this is a great time for all. Ride along the uncommercialised beaches and enjoy as the horses take a dip in the ocean during high tide.
  • Go White Water Rafting: Enjoy rafting thrills surrounded by lush vegetation. A dam upriver makes this a year-round activity.
  • Four Island Trip by Speedboat: Take a guided tour of 4 incredible islands. Visit the amazing island 'Koh Tub' where at low tide you can walk through the other island for swimming and sun bathing on the beach.
