Legian and Seminyak
Stylish, Sophisticated and Sexy
Along the beach from Kuta are the newer resort areas of Legian and Seminyak. Both regions are known for their enormous variety of accommodation options - everything from beachside bungalows to luxury hotels and boutique private villas.
Legian is crammed full of shops, from upmarket boutiques selling top designer brands to street markets (also selling top designer brands but with slightly dubious origin!). The large art market at the end of Jalan Melasti is great for Balinese handcrafts such as beads, shell work, carved masks and fabrics. A favourite past-time of many holiday makers is to watch the stunning sunsets, cocktail in hand, at one of the many beachside cafes or bars.
North of Legian is Seminyak, southern Bali's upmarket quarter and a popular residential setting for Balinese and ex-pats who can afford the extremely high house prices. Seminyak is dominated by luxury resorts, spas, fine dining restaurants and stylish nightspots: a very popular spot for honeymooners or those wanting a romantic getaway. The quiet northern end of Seminyak has seen a flurry of development, with large private villa complexes catering for guests who are looking for a luxurious and secluded holiday experiences, without being too far from the excitement that has made Bali famous.
- Sunset Viewing: Legian Beach is one of the best places within Bali to watch a magnificent sunset.
- Shop Till Your Hearts Content: Jasan Laksmana is the street to venture down for some quality shopping.
- Head Out on The Town: Some of Bali's hottest nightspots are in Seminyak as well as a variety of restaurants to dine in.
